With a history in steel manufacturing, Copenhagen-based design house Vipp is leading the charge to redefine Danish design for the 21st century.

A departure from the traditional Scandinavian design staples of light oak, muted textiles and warm tones (all the better to create interior spaces conducive to hygge), Vipp is known for its industrial ethos, powder-coated steel construction and moody monochrome visuals.

It was this innovative spirit that piqued the interest of WØRKS founders Christoffer Kjærgård and Suze Raymond many years ago. As they built WØRKS, their interest transformed from casual admiration into a desire to collaborate. That aspiration was realised last month when Vipp CEO Jette Egelund invited WØRKS to showcase our ÅRHUS Nourishing Hand Care duo at the launch of the company’s debut furniture range, Vipp Open House.

Hosted by Cult Design in their Chippendale showroom, the three-week event began with a Media Preview on October 29, which was attended by design industry heavyweights Vogue Living, Habitus, Est Living, and House of Style, along with high-profile interior stylists and designers.

Nicolás Yi-Cheng Hou, Vipp’s representative for the Asia Pacific region, directed the evening alongside Cult Design’s Head of Brand and Culture, Jeff Tsang.

After delving into Vipp’s rich history and current projects – including their highly sought-after boutique hotel offerings – guests were invited to interact with the new furniture collection, which includes sofas, ottomans, dining tables, chairs, side tables and small objects for the home. WØRKS was featured prominently in the Vipp bathroom, and guests took home an exclusive WØRKS gift bag that contained products from the ÅRHUS and KØBEN collections.

The following days were reserved for industry-only tours, before the doors opened to the public on Saturday November 2. Now in its final days, the Vipp Open House runs until Saturday November 16, 2019. If you’re in Sydney and love beautiful design, make sure you mark your diary. Entry is free.
